Ever wanted to make your own playable comic books? Don't have any modding skills? Then the new story-based multiplayer mode in Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich might be just the thing for you. It's designed to address the lack of context that is found in many other multiplayer games.

In most multiplayer games, you're fighting against the other player … just "because"; there's no real reason for the conflict. It's the Amazon woman versus the Navy Seal vs. the guy with the chicken head. Story-based multiplayer provides a fictional wrapper for the match -- a reason why these characters are fighting and why the outcome matters to them. You can even create a series of missions that tell a larger story. Anything a comic-book fanboi can create, they can bring to life in story-based multiplayer.

Additionally, story-based multiplayer is a way of presenting interesting, pre-packaged match-ups, which might be better than the fairly random results that come from a more traditional, "each player picks the best possible team they can think of." Death to Spies RIP [800 MB]

In WWII, there was apparently an actual unit that was formed strictly for the purpose of rooting out and killing spies. Since we’ve seen a lot of WWII games hit store shelves, 1C has decided to take a little different approach to the famous conflict by doing a lot of research and allowing you to play as one of these spy eliminator units.

The demo showcased the action in a third person perspective, and the game will have you relying heavily on stealth and infiltration of enemy areas. There is a health meter and a map to help you locate enemies and objectives similar to other stealth titles, but Death to Spies also includes an enemy awareness meter which will help determine whether or not you may be seen or recognized. This not only includes making too much noise or being too much out in the open, but you will also be able to take the clothing of enemies you knock out … shooting them will get blood on the uniform and the AI is smart enough to recognize things like this or even carrying a Russian issued gun instead of a German one. You can even do things like booby trap an enemies corpse so that when his buddies flip him over to see what happens … BOOM! You now have a clear path.

The mine valley of Khorinis. The glorious days of the once productive mines in this small seaside region were long over. Surrounded by the impenetrable magical barrier, the slaves eked out their miserable existence in this apparently natural prison. One brave man managed to burst the bonds of imprisonment. Following his own call to freedom, he ventured deep into the subterranean temples. Willing to do whatever was necessary, he went out to banish Evil and destroy the magical barrier forever. Spurred by the hatred of men long-suppressed, the prisoners streamed trough the only pass to freedom.

* No one in Khorinis had been prepared for this. Too long had they lived under the deceptive notion of security granted by the apparently indestructible magical dome. The small militia garrison could not put up enough forces against the onrush. After numerous bloody clashes, many captives succeded to escape and found safety in the woods or rugged mountains of the surrounding countryside.
* The steadily escalating number of raids in the vicinity of the town wall and the bandits' ever-increasing boldness seemed to paralyse the whole town. Angered by the militia's inability to protect their farms, some of the farmers formed an alliance with the refugees, no longer willing to pay allegiance to the king.
* Khorinis is facing an uncertain future. Due to the farmers' decreasing production, more and more of the food deliveries do not take place, and the stocks diminish continuously.
